B-29 DOC Tour Stop in Twin Falls, ID, Canceled Due to Aircraft Maintenance

The B-29 DOC History Restored Tour that is scheduled to land in Twin Falls, ID, and Magic Valley Regional Airport this week has been canceled due to unplanned aircraft maintenance.
“The safe operation of B-29 DOC is our top priority,” said Josh Wells, B-29 DOC chief executive officer. “Following the air show demonstration flight last weekend in Moses Lake, WA, it was determined that one of DOC’s propellers and engines entered an operating mode that requires further inspection before the warbird can be returned to flight status.”
DOC is one of 1,644 Boeing B-29 Superfortress bombers built in Wichita, Kan., during World War II, and one of only two B-29 bombers still airworthy and flying today.
“Our maintenance team is committed to the long-term safe operation and sustainment of DOC. We are operating a national treasure—and sometimes with an 80-year-old aircraft—unplanned maintenance needs arise. The pause in Moses Lake will allow our maintenance team to work, but it requires us to cancel our planned tour stop in Twin Falls. Even though we had to cancel this week’s tour stop, we are already making plans to return to Twin Falls in 2027 and we hope to make that announcement soon,” Wells said.

The B-29 DOC History Restored Tour will land in Twin Falls, Idaho, and Magic Valley Regional Airport June 18-21.
DOC is one of 1,644 Boeing B-29 Superfortress bombers built in Wichita, Kan., during World War II, and one of only two B-29 bombers still airworthy and flying today. This historic aircraft will be available for ground and cockpit tours, as well as B-29 DOC Flight Experience rides during the four-day tour stop.

The tour stop in Twin Falls is the second of three for DOC in June, which also included the Moses Lake Airshow in Moses Lake, WA (June 12-13) and Historic Wendover Air Field in Wendover, UT (June 24-29).

B-29 DOC will be available for public tours (ramp and cockpit access), Thursday, June 18, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. B-29 DOC Flight Experience rides will be available Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 19-21, at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. each day, followed by public tours from 12 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on those days. Ramp and cockpit tour admission will be $10 per person and $20 per family (tickets will be available at the gate the days of the event).
