B-29 DOC Joins the Moses Lake Airshow Lineup in June
The B-29 DOC History Restored Tour will be part of the Moses Lake Airshow this month.
The historic World War II-era bomber will land at Grant County International Airport on Wednesday, June 10. It will be available for static ground and cockpit tours during the air show, Friday, June 12, and will fly in the air show Saturday, June 13. B-29 DOC Flight Experience rides will also be available before and after the air show on June 11 and 14.
DOC is one of 1,644 Boeing B-29 Superfortress bombers built in Wichita, Kan., during World War II, and one of only two B-29 bombers still airworthy and flying today. In addition to being available for up-close cockpit tour access and ride flights while at Moses Lake, DOC will join the air show flight performance line up for a legacy flight as a grand finale for the show on Saturday, June 13.
“As our nation celebrates its 250th anniversary, seeing the legacy of the legendary B-29 Superfortress alongside the iconic P-51D Mustang serves as a powerful reminder of how far American ingenuity has come,” said Micah Trautman, Chairman of the Board for the Moses Lake Airshow. “Family-friendly events like the Moses Lake air show are vital for fostering strong community bonds and inspiring the next generation of aerospace innovators. Through our STEAM initiatives, we hope to ignite a passion in young minds.”
Ride flight tickets for B-29 DOC are on sale now at www.b29doc.com/rides and ticket prices vary, depending upon the seat chosen. DOC will be open for cockpit tour access during the hours of the air show and aircraft tour admission to climb inside is $10 per person or $20 per family.
“Air shows do more than entertain — they inspire future generations, honor the legacy of those who served, and keep America’s aviation history alive,” said Mark Novak, B-29 DOC aircraft commander. “Having B-29 DOC involved provides a rare and powerful opportunity for people to experience a living piece of history firsthand, connecting audiences to the courage, innovation, and sacrifice that shaped our nation’s airpower heritage.”
