B-29 Doc History Restored Tour to land in Georgetown, South Carolina

B-29 Doc, one of 1,644 B-29 Superfortress aircraft built by the Boeing Company in Wichita during World War II and one of only two B-29 bombers still airworthy and flying today, will bring its History Restored Tour to Georgetown, SC, April 25-28.

The tour stop at Georgetown County Airport will feature ground and cockpit tours, along with B-29 Doc Flight Experience Rides.

“This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to experience living history provided to us by the Greatest Generation,” said Georgetown County Airport Director Jim Taylor.

Tickets for B-29 Doc Flight Experience rides for the event at Georgetown County Airport are on sale now at www.b29doc.com/rides. Tickets for ground and cockpit tours will be available at the gate on the days of the event for $10 per person or $20 per family.

“The B-29 Doc History Restored Tour offers a unique opportunity for people to get up close and personal with history,” said Josh Wells, B-29 Doc executive director. “Our mission is to honor the legacies of the men and women who designed, built, flew and maintained historic warbirds to ensure victory during World War II for Allied Forces. Through Doc’s tour season each year, our focus is to preserve our nation’s history and inspire the next generation of leaders and workers in aviation, technology, science and space flight.”

Event Details for the B-29 Doc History Restored Tour in Georgetown, SC

B-29 Doc will arrive at Georgetown County Airport (KGGE) on Wednesday, April 24 and will be available for ground and cockpit tours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday and Friday, April 25 and 26. B-29 Doc Flight Experience Rides are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, April 27 and 28, and will be followed by ground and cockpit tours in the afternoon of both days.
