B-29 DOC History Restored Tour to land at Evansville Wartime Museum in May

The B-29 DOC History Restored Tour will make a stop at the Evansville Wartime Museum in Evansville, IN, May 8-12, 2025.

The iconic B-29 DOC, one of only two remaining airworthy B-29 Superfortresses worldwide, is one of 1,644 B-29 bombers built by the Boeing Company in Wichita, KS, during World War II. This historic aircraft will be available for ground and cockpit tours, as well as B-29 Doc Flight Experience rides while in Evansville.

“We’re thrilled to bring the B-29 Doc History Restored Tour to the Evansville Wartime Museum,” said Mark Novak, B-29 DOC chief pilot. “Evansville has a rich history of wartime aircraft production, and this stop is a perfect opportunity to honor the legacy of those who built and flew these incredible machines. We look forward to sharing the sights, sounds, and history of this legendary bomber with the community.”

Evansville’s World War II aviation history dates to the P-47 Thunderbolt production lines, as well as munitions and shipyard production. Landing Ship Tank ships were built and launched in the Ohio River in downtown Evansville.

“We are excited to host the legendary B-29 Doc at the Evansville Wartime Museum,” said Meredith Marshall, events committee chair, Evansville Wartime Museum. “This iconic aircraft represents the dedication and bravery of the men and women who served during World War II, and we are honored to give the community a chance to experience history up close. It’s a unique opportunity to pay tribute to the past while educating future generations about the sacrifices made during one of the most pivotal times in history. That is what the Evansville Wartime Museum is all about.”
