B-29 DOC History Restored Tour to land at American Air Power Museum on Long Island

The B-29 DOC History Restored Tour will stop at the American Airpower Museum at Republic Airport on Long Island, May 21-26, 2025.
B-29 DOC is one of 1,644 B-29 bombers built by the Boeing Company in Wichita, KS, during World War II and one of only two remaining airworthy B-29 Superfortress bombers worldwide. The iconic bomber will be available for ground and cockpit tours, along with B-29 DOC Flight Experience rides while at Republic Airport and the American Airpower Museum in Farmingdale, NY.
“Farmingdale and New York’s Long Island have a rich history in U.S. military aviation dating back to World War II when it was the home of Republic Aviation, where more than 9,000 P-47 Thunderbolts were built,” said Josh Wells, B-29 DOC executive director. “The present-day work of the American Airpower Museum showcases the unique story of America’s airpower strength during WWII and beyond, as it maintains a unique collection of warbirds that still fly today. Our shared mission provides one-of-a-kind opportunities for today’s generation to get up-close and personal with history.”
The tour stop at Republic will be the third stop in a series of eight cities across six states from May 8 through June 23.

“It’s a tremendous privilege to welcome DOC and its crew to the American Airpower Museum this Memorial Day weekend,” said Scott Clyman, AAM Director of Operations. “The B-29’s visit honors all the men and women who built, maintained, and flew these legendary warbirds during WWII. Visitors will have the rare opportunity to get up close, tour, and even take a once-in-a-lifetime flight aboard one of only two airworthy B-29s in the world. The B-29 DOC is a true legend of American Airpower and a powerful tribute to all those who contributed to the allied victory that ended WWII 80 years ago.”
