B-29 DOC is one of 1,644 B-29 bombers built in Wichita, KS, during World War II by The Boeing Company, and one of only two of the nearly 4,000 built that remain airworthy and fly today. P-51 Gunfighter was built at North American’s Inglewood, California, facility and was accepted into the USAAF in March 1945. That month, it was shipped to England, where it was assigned to the famous “Mighty Eighth” Air Force.

“Flying in a B-29 or P-51 is like stepping back in time — it’s a powerful reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and innovation that defined an entire generation,” said Dan Schone, B-29 DOC aircraft commander. “Every stop on this tour gives us the chance to connect people with the living history of World War II aviation. We’re especially excited to bring this experience to Fort Myers, where the passion for flight and community pride make Page Field a truly special place to share our story.”

The B-29 DOC History Restored Tour stop at Page Field in Fort Myers will be a ride-and-flight-only tour stop; ground, ramp, and cockpit tours will not be available. Both warbirds will arrive on Monday, October 27, and will be available for ride flight experiences on Tuesday, October 28, and Wednesday, October 29. Ride flight tickets are on sale now at www.b29doc.com/rides and at www.p51gunfighter.com

“We’re thrilled to bring P-51 Gunfighter back to Florida skies and share a piece of living history with the Fort Myers community,” said Jeff Linebaugh, Gunfighter pilot and ride coordinator. “Every time we fire up these engines and take off, we’re not just flying airplanes — we’re honoring the men and women who designed, built, maintained, and flew these machines to protect our freedom. Page Field has a rich aviation heritage, and it’s the perfect place to celebrate the legacy of American airpower.”

The stop in Fort Myers is the second of six cities these historic warbirds will visit in Florida before wrapping up their 2025 tour season. Additional tour stops in Florida for both DOC and Gunfighter can be found online at www.b29doc.com/events and www.b29doc.com/gunfighter
