Historic D-Day warbird to host ride flight day at B-29 DOC Hangar, Education & Visitors Center July 12

The airplane that led the main airborne invasion of Normandy on D-Day during World War II will make a stop at the B-29 DOC Hangar, Education and Visitors Center this weekend in Wichita.
B-29 DOC will host the C-47 known as “That’s All, Brother” on Saturday, July 12, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. B-29 DOC will be available for ground and cockpit tours after 12 p.m., while the C-47 will be available for ride flights throughout the day.
“We’re honored to welcome That’s All, Brother to the B-29 DOC Hangar, Education and Visitors Center as part of our mission to connect people with living history,” said Josh Wells, B-29 DOC executive director. “Having these two legendary warbirds together gives visitors a unique and powerful opportunity to experience the aircraft that helped define victory in World War II. It’s a rare chance to walk through, learn, and truly appreciate the sacrifice and service of those who flew them.”
On June 6, 1944, the C-47 known as “That’s All, Brother” was piloted by Lt. Col. John Donalson and led more than 800 C-47s that delivered more than 13,000 paratroopers. After serving on D-Day and a handful of other World War II missions, the airplane returned to the United States in 1945. It was eventually relegated to a warbird boneyard, but was restored decades later.
“Bringing That’s All, Brother to join forces with B-29 Doc allows us to share two remarkable pieces of aviation history in one place,” said JP Pritko, CAF Central Texas Wing operations officer. “It’s about more than just the airplanes—it’s about remembering the courage, innovation, and sacrifice of the Greatest Generation.”
That’s All, Brother is operated by the Central Texas Wing of the Commemorative Air Force, based in San Marcos, TX.
