As one of only two B-29 Superfortresses still flying today, DOC serves as a flying tribute to the men and women who designed, built, flew and maintained these legendary aircraft during World War II. The P-51 Gunfighter, a rare D-Model Mustang, is one of fewer than 150 D-Models remaining today from the nearly 8,000 produced during the war.

Bringing DOC and Gunfighter together on the same ramp provides a unique opportunity to see two aircraft that represent an important chapter in the story of American airpower during World War II. The B-29 and P-51 operated together in the Pacific Theater, where long-range P-51 Mustangs helped escort B-29 formations during missions over Japan.

Throughout the B-29 DOC History Restored Tour, visitors of all ages can climb inside DOC, get an up-close look at Gunfighter, meet the volunteers who keep these historic aircraft flying, and connect with the stories of the Greatest Generation.

  • Oct. 10 & 11: Ride flight operations at 9 and 10:30 a.m., ground and cockpit tours from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. (last ticket sold at 4 p.m.)
