Barksdale AFB: Defenders of Liberty Air Show

The B-29 DOC History Restored Tour will make a special appearance at the Defenders of Liberty Air Show at Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City, Louisiana, April 3-4, 2027, bringing one of the world’s most iconic World War II-era bombers to one of America’s historic military aviation installations.

B-29 DOC will be on static display throughout the air show, giving visitors a rare opportunity to get up close and personal with a legendary B-29 Superfortress and experience a living piece of American aviation history.

What to Expect

• Up-close access to B-29 DOC, one of only two B-29 Superfortresses still flying today
• Hands-on history with knowledgeable crew members and volunteers sharing stories of the B-29’s role in World War II
• Rare photo opportunities alongside one of the most recognizable bombers in military aviation history
• A living history experience honoring the men and women of the Greatest Generation who designed, built, maintained, and flew these legendary aircraft

One of only two remaining airworthy B-29s in the world, DOC is a meticulously restored World War II bomber and a flying tribute to the men and women who served our nation. Built in Wichita, Kansas, during World War II, DOC continues its mission to Honor, Educate, and Connect people with the history and legacy of American military aviation.

The appearance at Barksdale Air Force Base provides a particularly meaningful setting for DOC, connecting the legacy of World War II heavy bombers with Barksdale’s longstanding role in America’s strategic bomber operations. Visitors can meet the dedicated volunteers and crew members who keep DOC flying and learn about the aircraft’s remarkable restoration and ongoing mission.

Whether you’re a lifelong aviation enthusiast, military history buff, veteran, or family looking for an unforgettable experience, seeing B-29 DOC at the Defenders of Liberty Air Show offers a powerful connection to America’s aviation heritage.
