UPDATE for Monday, Sept. 4: B-29 will have two ride flights at 9 a.m and 10:30 a.m. in Cincinnati. Doc will NOT be available for cockpit tours on Monday, Sept. 4, due to a change in the departure schedule for the return flight from Cincinnati to Wichita.
Doc will depart Lunken Airport at approximately 1 p.m., and the public can watch the engine start and departure from the airport gates, but cockpit tours will NOT be available.
The B-29 Doc History Restored Tour has added the 2023 Lunken Airport Days Celebration, Sept. 2-3. to its 2023 schedule. The event hosted by the Cincinnati Warbirds EAA Squadron 18 is in its 28th year and is one of the premier warbird events in the Midwest region.
The tour stop will include B-29 Doc Flight Experience rides, along with ground and cockpit tours of B-29 Doc, one of only two B-29 Superfortress aircraft still airworthy and flying today. Doc will arrive in Cincinnati Thursday, August 31, and will begin hosting rides Friday, Sept. 1, with ground and cockpit tours during the Lunken Days event Sept. 2 & 3, as well as Monday, Sept 4.
