B-29 DOC remaining tour stops in Florida canceled

Due to unscheduled aircraft maintenance and logistical and scheduling considerations for DOC’s maintenance program, B-29 DOC’s remaining scheduled tour stops in Florida have been canceled.

“While the decision to cancel the appearance of B-29 DOC at the 2025 Stuart Air Show is disappointing, it is necessary to ensure the integrity and on-time start of our annual maintenance schedule,” said Josh Wells, B-29 DOC executive director. “We wanted to make the scheduled tour stops in Vero Beach and Stuart, Florida, but timing and logistics for maintenance simply would not allow that to happen.”

The tour was paused in Panama City, FL, last week (week of Oct. 27) for preventive maintenance and engine replacement.

“Our maintenance team has worked hard since mid-week (Oct. 30) to execute a full engine replacement and return the aircraft to service in less than five days,” Wells continued. “When we analyzed logistical challenges and the risk of delaying our annual winter maintenance schedule if we had continued the tour for another two weeks, it was clear that canceling the final two weeks of the Florida tour was going to be the right call.”

B-29 DOC has made tour stops in 28 cities across 18 states, logging more than 175 flight hours over 241 flight sorties, including 161 B-29 DOC Flight Experience rides during its 2025 B-29 DOC History Restored Tour that launched in early April.

“We understand the disappointment this decision brings—to enthusiasts, families, and event hosts alike—but believe this step is necessary to ensure that DOC can continue to serve as a living link to history for many years to come, including meeting our commitments to the 2026 tour schedule.”
